[ITT-staff] IMPORTANT - Great California ShakeOut

Hi all,
I know some of you may feel this is a bit inconvenient and/or impossible to do, but it could save lives. Participating in a full evacuation of the classroom will help us to remember what to do in time of crisis. During this time, students will look to you for guidance and direction. Please, Please participate because we are very much earthquake prone in California. If nothing else, please share with your students information about where the Evacuation Assembly Area (EAA) for this building is and what to do in case of an earthquake. Lives my literally depend on it.

The Great California ShakeOut is tomorrow at 10:10 am. We want as many as possible to participate in a full evacuation by doing the following:

GREAT CALIFORNIA SHAKEOUT - GENERAL GUIDANCE

10:00 am - 10:10 am

1.      Faculty and managers in charge discuss the Drop! Cover! Hold! procedure and the location of the appropriate Evacuation Assembly Area (EAA) with their class or department respectively (maps attached).

10:10 am - 10:12 am

1.      Drop! Cover! Hold! (There will be no alarms sounding.)

2.      At 10:12 am, proceed to your EAA.

3.      Once at the EAA, the faculty or manager in charge of an evacuating class or department may release their students or staff at this time.

On the Santa Rosa Campus we will be doing some additional work to strengthen our communications. Please use the following procedure:

GREAT CALIFORNIA SHAKEOUT - SCHEDULE SANTA ROSA CAMPUS

10:00 am - 10:10 am

1.      Faculty and managers in charge discuss the Drop! Cover! Hold! procedure and the location of the appropriate Evacuation Assembly Area (EAA) with their class or department respectively (map attached).

10:10 am - 10:12 am

1.      Drop! Cover! Hold! (There will be no alarms sounding.)

2.      At 10:12 am, proceed to your EAA.

3.      If you are an Area Safety Coordinator (ASC) or Building Safety Coordinator (BSC) (list attached) perform any required duties and proceed to your EAA.

4.      Exterior Team members (list attached), report to your assigned EAA.

10:12 am - 10:20 am

1.      Once at the EAA, the faculty or manager in charge of an evacuating class or department may release their students or staff at this time.

2.      The faculty or manager in charge locates their ASC or BSC to report the status of their evacuated group (BSC-ASC-Exterior Team List attached).

3.      BSCs and ASCs identify your Exterior Team member and report the groups that have evacuated. BSCs with additional information report this to the Exterior Team member.

4.      Exterior Team members stand by for contact from the Facilities Operations Department Operations Center (FacOps DOC). Report information as prompted by the FacOps DOC.

10:20 am - 10:30 am

1.      BSCs and ASCs may return to work when they give their report to the Exterior Team member.

2.      Exterior Team members may return to work once they have been released by FacOps DOC.
