Hi Lauren,

Mahalo for working on this. 'Ohana Area since folks are familiar with that term.

We need to contact Robert and ask him what category we fall into.

I say we submit for all that you ask. We could probably do with one table for tattoo and face painting. Using both sides of the table.

How about a fishing type game for prizes?

I will look for an ulu maika set when in Hawaii.

Mahalo,
--Liko

Aloha All,

We need to submit our DUO application. I've pasted a draft below. I'm envisioning tables for face painting, tattoo stamps, and craft activities. We could play Ulu maika. I'm also thinking we could put together a schedule of reading stories, talk story and ukulele and hula lessons. (10am: story time, 11am: Talk story with... Noon: Hula Lesson, etc.

Please let me know what you think. :)

Application type: Department, Student Group, Official sponsor (I'm not sure we fall into any of these categories)

Booth Type: Activity
Selling: Nothing

Ohana Area (Is this the name we want to call our space? Or should we call it Keiki area?)

Face Painting (table and four chairs)
Tattoo stamps (table and four chairs)
Craft Activity (2 Tables and 8 chairs)
Ulu Maika (lawn area)
Story/talk story time/ukulele and hula lessons (lawn area under shade, 2 chairs)

Program Description: Join us for Hawaiian kine fun and merriment. We'll have keiki (kids) crafts, games, and story time. Plus, join us for ukulele and hula lessons (for kids or open to all?).

Foundation Account to deposit our sales: Hui Pulama Mau

Day Under The Oaks - 2014 Participant Forms
(Bcc: dl.staff.all)

Our long tradition of opening the Sonoma County Junior College District's oak-covered Santa Rosa campus for a college-wide open house will return Sunday, May 4, 2014, from 10am - 4pm.

We invite departments, clubs, vendors and volunteers to participate. We have an excellent new web site to make it easy for you: www.santarosa.edu/duo<http://www.santarosa.edu/duo>. Check it out!
Thanks to Marc Berger for designing the new site and upgrading our online application forms.
All Department/Club participation forms need to be completed and submitted by Friday, February 21, at 5pm. This will ensure your inclusion in the DUO map/brochure.

* Departments and Clubs can submit their forms online as always:
http://www.santarosa.edu/about_srjc/day-under-the-oaks/participation/

* New this year, Arts & Crafts Vendors can submit their forms online and send in their photos of their handcrafted products and payments separately (due February 28):

http://www.santarosa.edu/about_srjc/day-under-the-oaks/craft-vendors/

* Volunteers, who are willing to help with the coordination of the event as a whole, can fill out and submit forms online if they are students, faculty, staff or community members:
http://www.santarosa.edu/about_srjc/day-under-the-oaks/volunteers/

Also new:

1. There will be a $20 participation fee for all of those hosting exhibits or concession booths. This is to help cover the overhead of such a large event. It assures you of a 10x10 space, table and chairs, and up to 4 free t-shirts. The online participation application explains how to make payment.

2. Clubs and departments are able to sponsor outside, non-SRJC food vendors/trucks. This will enable you to raise funds (the food vendors will donate a portion of their proceeds to the club or department), while helping mitigate risk of food handling and preparation issues. The guidelines and more information are available from Brian Phifer in Student Affairs (bphifer at santarosa.edu<mailto:bphifer at santarosa.edu>, X4647).

Designed to showcase the vast resources the College provides, Day Under The Oaks offers an array of opportunities:
--Parents can introduce younger children to the idea of going to college.
--Teens can explore SRJC as an option for their own college education.
--Adults can investigate career-building classes and programs.
--The business community can identify professional development programs for employees.
--Employers can learn about certificate programs that train job candidates.

It's all presented with an emphasis on family fun, festive entertainment and learning opportunities. In the past, as many as 10,000 have attended to enjoy exhibits, shows, multicultural food booths presented by student groups and departments, performances, hands-on activities, mini-seminars and much more. We hope you'll participate!

We are in the process of hiring an STNC to field all calls and emails re: club/department participation. Until then, please direct any questions about club/department participation to Robert Ethington.
