SEASONAL AIDE - LABORATORY ANALYST
Part-Time Variable Hours, Weekdays and Occasional Weekends (20 hours/week)

Part-Time Extra Help Water Quality Analyst within the Public Works Department.  Position may be assigned to assist in the Storm Water Quality, Pretreatment or Water Conservation programs.

Examples of Duties

This position's duties include but are not limited to the following:
*       Clean, organize and maintain laboratory space;
*       Log in and stock laboratory supplies;
*       Assist in water and wastewater sampling;
*       Safely perform chemical, bacteriological, physical and biological analysis and related laboratory work;
*       Assure maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment is performed at the level required to provide acceptable data;
*       Attend staff meetings and safety tailgates as required.
Typical Qualifications

Desired qualifications:
*       Related coursework in Environmental Sciences, Biology, Engineering or Geology;
*       Understand federal, state and local environmental regulations;
*       Fieldwork experience (sampling or creek work);
*       Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint;
*       Possession of a California Water Environment Association (CWEA) Grade 1 or 2 Laboratory Analyst Certificate

Must be able to interact with the public both in person and over the phone in a positive and professional manner, provide exceptional customer service, and establish effective working relationships. Must demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail and follow through on assigned administrative tasks. Computer skills with data entry and proficiency in Microsoft Office are also required. Must be able to occasionally lift 25 pounds. This position reports to an Environmental Program Manager, as assigned. This position works in the office and in the field and must be able to work in both office and outside environments.
