Job Summary:
* The Trinchero Family Estates (TFE) Utilities Operator is responsible for the operations and upkeep of TFE's water systems, primarily working in the Napa Valley. Using Standard Work, Work Instructions and following schedules provided by Maintenance Connection, the Utilities Operator will be engaged in ensuring the operability and compliance of the following systems:
* Production and Distribution of Domestic Drinking Water
* Treatment and Disposal of Winery Process Wastewater
* Stormwater Conveyance
* Reclaim Water
The Utilities Operator shall also assist the TFE Utilities Manager with assigned projects associated with the above-mentioned systems and/or support to other TFE departments/projects as needed.
Additionally, this role will provide support at any time for emergencies as declared by TFE Leadership.
Essential Functions:
The following reflects TFE's definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Leadership may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons.
* Operate the above-mentioned systems IAW Standard Work and in support of Environmental Department compliance oversight.
* Support troubleshooting and repair of any underperforming or non-functional systems.
* Proper use, care, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory equipment essential to Environmental Regulatory Compliance. This also includes any remotely located instruments or sensors in the Napa Valley under the control of the Utilities Manager.
* Maintain proper calibration of system sensors. Repair/Replace when necessary.
* Perform and maintain proper and timely data entry into the Environmental Department data base.
* Maintain proper paper logs and file securely. Attention to data entry details and logs that can be used to detect deviations from normal operation of systems and or environmental non-compliance issues.
* Use proper sampling, handling, and delivery procedures for domestic water, wastewater, and stormwater samples delivered to a third-party lab for regulatory compliance.
* Respond to after-hours system alarms or notification calls from management via remote log-in or a required site visit as needed.
* Perform ongoing preventative maintenance as assigned by the Utilities Manager for any system. Ensure maintenance and operations standards are upheld.
* Maintain proper site cleanliness. This includes pickup of debris, weeds, leaks, and spills. Maintain proper cleanliness and respect for any space, offices, and Environmental Laboratory. Maintain proper storage of chemicals and supplies. Maintain all equipment in a clean and orderly state. Ensure safety supplies are on hand at each site to facilitate visitors. Ensure all lighting works properly for afterhours use to work safely.
* Understand and proficiently operate all system controls for the above-mentioned systems.
* Investigate and address any drinking water quality issues or safety issues brought to your attention by anyone immediately. Notification to the Utilities Manager and or upper management required should an emergency arise.
* Work cross functionally with the Environmental Team to ensure proper implementation of all regulatory body requirements, without prejudice, to ensure that TFE meets all internal and external standards for all drinking water, wastewater, stormwater and septic systems. This includes staying informed of new or upcoming regulations. Cross functional support applies to all TFE departments.
Qualifications:
* Education: High School Diploma Required. AA/AS Preferred.
* This role will require that within the first six month, the Utilities Operator 1 will earn their State of California Treatment-2 Operators License. Within 12 months, the Utilities Operator 1 will earn their State of California Water Distribution-2 License. Additional training and certification as prescribed by the Utilities Manager will be expected over time. Another requirement is to maintain T-2 & D-2 State License continuing education hours as required every four years.
* Strong organizational, problem-solving, analytical skills and interpersonal skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to deal effectively with a diverse workforce at all levels.
* Ability to manage priorities, workflow, deadlines.
* Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
* Valid CA driver's license with good driver record.
* Forklift Certification & Respiratory Certification
* Basic hand tools needed. Any specialty tools will be provided by TFE.
* Bilingual skills a plus
Working Conditions:
* Moderate physical work.
* Work site may be any one of Trinchero Family Estates' facilities.
* Must comply with all safety rules and PPE requirements, all environmental regulations, and the Safe Quality Food certification requirements.
* Exposure to various chemicals in production areas including drinking water and wastewater treatment systems.
* Exposure to machinery, forklifts and related production equipment.
* Long and irregular hours during peak periods.
* Extensive walking and potential lifting of up to 55 pounds.
* Work outside in various weather conditions.
