Earn while you learn!  Water Treatment/Distribution Operator Trainees (WTDOTs) receive on-the-job training and experience for two to three years as they gain skills to promote to become journey-level Water Treatment (WT) or Water Distribution (WD)

Operators.


WTDOTs learn to perform a variety of routine operational, monitoring, maintenance, and related duties involved in the treatment, storage, and distribution of a continuously (24/7/365) operating large metropolitan drinking water system.


The most competitive candidates for this position will

have:

*        Basic mathematical knowledge including algebra, geometry and conversions

*        Basic understanding of hydraulic, mechanical, and

electrical principles

*        Ability to read mechanical systems and piping

diagrams

*        Knowledge of common hand and power tools

CAREER PATH

WTDOTs must be able to obtain within one year of employment a state license in the area of assignment, either a T2 (Treatment) or a D2 (Distribution) Water Operator Certificate issued by the California State Water Resources Control Board.
