I am contacting you on behalf of a group of Theatre Arts students who are seeking fellow JC students this spring to tell us their personal stories on the topic of Leaving Home.  These stories will then be used as inspiration for a new, original theatrical production to be performed by the SRJC Theatre Department in the fall.

Leaving Home will be a dramatic exploration of the concept of "home" and what it means to "leave home," both literally and metaphorically, brought to life through stories drawn from interviews with actual SRJC students.  With this in mind, we are looking for students with many types of stories.  (An initial thematic list of ideas is attached, but this is just a starting point.)  We are casting our net wide, hoping to find students who feel a call to share their stories with others.

While we will be filming our interviews, we understand that we are asking for stories with potentially sensitive subject matter that may require a certain level of confidentiality.  Each interviewed student will be able to specify the level of confidentiality with which they want us to handle their story, interview, and privacy.

If you know any students who may be interested, or who you think might have a compelling story to share, please let them know about our project and send them our way.  To aid in this process, I've attached an "invitation" that provides the student with a description of the project and how to contact us.  We hope to start interviews after Spring Break so are asking for students to contact us by April 1, if possible.
