Dear Colleagues,

Applications for the  2015-16 Teaching Fellows Program are now available to students!   We would like to encourage students to apply from all of our CTE departments!  Although the
process is student generated, a faculty member can identify and encourage a student to apply. The application is due March 27, 2015.

This program is for students interested in pursuing a career in the education field. The student must have completed 24 units at SRJC by the end of the spring 2015 semester, as well as
have a minimum of a  3.0 GPA.   The student must also be planning to enroll in 12 or more units each semester of the 2015-16 academic year.

The process requires a student to apply with a faculty member, and to and propose a year-long project (2 semesters), with activities such as mentoring other students, presenting
subject matter in class, assisting with grading, etc.  The intent is to mentor students that show an interest in the teaching/education profession.  The student receives a stipend of $3,600
for the year and is required to contribute 10-15 hours a week to the class and the project designed with a faculty member.  A monthly session is held on the first Friday of every month
from August to May (excluding January) from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.  Subject matter is delivered by the participating faculty mentors. Faculty mentors receive service credit,
as well as having the wonderful opportunity to build collegial relationships across disciplines, and to build a mentoring relationship with a promising student.

Please consider this opportunity to support students interested in becoming educational leaders, thus ensuring that our CTE students may also benefit from this incredible program.
