Dear Colleagues,

Happy New Year and welcome to spring semester!

The College is pleased to announce the creation of a Peer Assisted Learning Specialist (PALS) Pilot Program, which will launch this semester!

Through Student Equity and Basic Skills funds, basic skills Math, English, and ESL, and some CTE courses will have a peer assisted learning specialist to provide embedded tutoring and grading assistance, as well as lead "study group" sessions.  The goal is to increase completion and persistence of our basic skills students.

If you know of stellar students you'd like to recommend to serve as a Math, English, ESL or CTE PAL Specialist, please .......Email Diana Rangaves your interest at drangaves at santarosa.edu


This spring pilot will help us develop and refine the program before a full launch in Fall 2015 for basic skills Math, English, and ESL, and CTE courses for which students need additional assistance the most for successful completion.

Peer Assisted Learning is a proven means to increase student success and retention; we are thrilled to be embarking on this very important pilot.
