Pharmacy Technician/Admixture

Redwood Regional Medical Group is looking for a full time Pharmacy Technician to work in our busy Medical Oncology Department. The ideal candidate will be preparing intravenous admixtures, other sterile and non-sterile preparations, including intravenous antibiotics, and large volume intravenous additives. Will prepare chemotherapy mixtures and perform decontamination and cleaning of chemotherapy area and supplies. They will have experience maintaining quality of drugs by continuously monitoring expiration dates and will employ established policies, procedures and standards for aseptic technique and handling sterile products. Responsibilities include maintaining appropriate quality control logs documentation and participating in quality control activities including the maintenance of the refrigerator temperature log and chemotherapy hood gauge logs. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining all aspects of inventory for the infusion room. The successful candidate will maintain the computerized patient profile records with additions, deletions, and/or changes under the supervision of the RN. This includes sorting, assessing and prioritizing communications and orders for the RN with the assistance of any established triage protocol.
Qualifications:
• Valid Pharmacy Technician License required
• One year as a pharmacy technician or related experience preferred. Hospital pharmacy technician experience is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of general pharmacy operations.
• Demonstrated knowledge of drug names, dosage forms, and packaging and storage requirements.
• Demonstrated application of aseptic technique procedures.
• Ability to prepare sterile solutions.
• Knowledge of pharmacy computer systems and hardware.
• Ability to work tactfully and effectively with patients, nursing staff, physician staff, and clinic personnel.
• Ability to prioritize work flow and respond appropriately to immediate or urgent patient or work flow needs.
• Ability to read, speak, write, understand and follow English verbal and written instruction.
