Job Description for Full-Time IV Pharmacy Technician -- Union City, CA

CALIFORNIA PHARMACY TECHNICIAN LICENSE ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED!

PharMerica Union City is recruiting for a Full-Time IV Pharmacy Technician to join our team, working 11:00am-approx 7:45pm M-F and rotating weekends.

PharMerica in Union City, CA is recruiting for a Full-Time IV Pharmacy Technician to join our team.
Essential Functions:

• IV mixing/compounding procedures, and processing patient information in computer.
• Assists the Pharmacist in filling prescription items, as permitted by the State Board of Pharmacy. Types prescription information to produce labels.
• Labels products appropriately, including cautionary or auxiliary labels.
• Responsible for maintaining, cleaning and accountability of pumps.
• Responsible for replenishment and maintenance of IV Emergency Drug Kits.
• Takes inventory, places orders, checks in drugs and supplies, stocks shelves and removes out-of-date items from the inventory.
• Inputs patient data and medication orders into IV computer system.
• Prepares medications including emulsions, liquids, powders and ointments.
• Packages medications for dispensing and for delivery.
• Sanitizes IV room, equipment and hood.
• Communicates with nursing center personnel and other customers in a pleasant professional manner.
• Processes returned medications from the facility for credit or destruction.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• CALIFORNIA PHARMACY TECHNICIAN LICENSE REQUIRED!!
• Minimum 1 year of IV compounding experience required in hospital or home infusion pharmacy setting.
• Minimum 1 year Pharmacy Technician experience.
• Weekend rotation shifts.
• SCSWebb experience strongly preferred.
