[ITT-staff] First week updates--Lift Project, A/C, and more

All,
The fall academic senate retreat conflicts with our first department meeting as well. That said, after being the red-headed step child of the campus for decades, we should absolutely take advantage of the opportunity to put our programs in the spotlight. An invitation to present at this event is more than a polite "inclusion".  Perhaps we could consider our preparation for this event the first department meeting?  I'm willing to put in the prep work, although I will be in the senate retreat during the event itself.

Hello ITT Staff,

Hope you had a good first week. It was great seeing many of you and our students in and around Lounibos.

A few quick updates:


  1.  Lounibos Air Conditioning: Two fuses were blown on the rooftop A/C unit. Fac Ops has ordered them. I have asked for an ETA and will keep you posted. Thankfully, the weather is forecast to cool down significantly next week.



  1.  Lift Project: The second concrete pour is scheduled for Friday. The lift company is planning to be back on site Monday morning.  The (2) four-post lifts still need power (and will get it the week of Labor Day), but the other lifts should now have power. I have asked for an update and project lookahead from Heather in Capital Projects on Friday.



  1.  Dave Yoast is currently out on leave. If you encounter Dave or Rebecca on campus or in Lounibos, please let me know. I am exploring the possibility of getting some more STNC support.



  1.  The ITT Department has been invited by the SRJC President’s Office to feature our programs at the College and Career Access Pathways (CCAP) outreach event on Friday, September 5th in the Lindley Center on campus. These are high school students currently enrolled in an SRJC course through a CCAP agreement. We’d be presenting or showcasing our programs to 22 students for 40 minutes at a time, from 10am—1pm. We could rotate and take turns and could finish at 1pm and head in to our Department meeting then. We keep it simple: just set up some cool equipment and talk about it. Let me know if you are interested. I know we’ve all been wanting to get more visibility on campus and this would be a great opportunity.
