Subject: New grant funds for faculty course development

I want to share the good news that SRJC has been awarded grant funds to help faculty create new, online CE courses, sections and certificates. Through the grant we will be able to offer compensation to participating faculty in the amount of twenty hours at their base hourly rate for each unit of the course(s) that they create with us.


Details about the grant
(Please pass along to your faculty if interested)
The local initiative, called CE Online, will include:

  *   An in-person orientation that includes breakfast or lunch and some fun swag
  *   Working with an expanded DE team to create the course, aligned with the OEI Online Course Design Rubric
  *   Working with a Multimedia Specialist to create a short Welcome video
  *   Incorporating one of the exciting new software applications we'll be piloting (VoiceThread, Proctorio, PlayPosit, Respondus or Cerego)
  *   An introduction to Online Educational Resources that could reduce or eliminate the textbook cost for students

Applications include approval by both the Dean and Chair. The number of instructors we can work with is limited by the grant funding, so we will be prioritizing applications that meet one or more of these criteria:

  1.  The course is in the Career Educational area
  2.  The course is required in a Career Educational certificate or major
  3.  The course has a high demand
  4.  The course has never been taught online at SRJC
  5.  The course has been taught online at SRJC but the instructor has never taught it in that format
