FYI - Reminder, please post and share with your students.  This is an opportunity to meet employers who may be interviewing and hiring on the spot.

FOOD & BEVERAGE MANUFACTURING STUDENT/INDUSTRY SYMPOSIUM

In partnership with Santa Rosa Junior College, Sonoma County Office of Education, and the Sonoma County Food Industry Group (FIG), the CTE Foundation's Food & Beverage Manufacturing program is designed to inform and engage local students in opportunities to learn about the variety of career paths available in the industry.

The Food & Beverage Manufacturing Student/Industry Symposium is a day-long event designed to provide opportunities for career exploration, educational assessment, and jobs and skills matching. Students will have an opportunity to connect with industry representatives and employers will have a chance to meet with and assess skills of potential employees. Junior and senior year high school students will be invited to attend, as well as SRJC and Sonoma State University students.

Symposium activities include:

*         Attend an introductory session presented by the Economic Development Board to learn about the high demand careers available in local food and beverage manufacturing industries

*         Meet one-on-one with industry representatives to learn about potential careers, the specific skills required to be qualified for them, academic and paid internships, and entry level job openings

*         Learn from current employees about what it's like to work in the industry and the skills and training required to be successful

*         Share resumes, participate in interviews, and receive feedback from hiring managers on additional training and certifications needed to join the industry

*         Link SRJC/SSU students with local employers for potential internships and/or employment

Attached you will find the flier for the Food and Beverage event April 27th at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds.  Companies will be there to interview (and hire) SRJC students to work in the Food and Beverage Industrial Automation Manufacturing business.  Please announce, email and give out to your students and encourage them to attend.  Even  if they aren't ready to graduate, they should attend to learn more about positions open in this exciting, well-paying industry.
