Kamehameha Community Learning Center Coming to Māʻili “We
know that to be successful in our mission to improve the capability and
well being of Hawaiians through education, the most important place for us
to be is here on the Waiʻanae Coast for the simple reason that the highest
concentration of Native Hawaiians anywhere in this world live between Kahe
Point and Kaʻena Point,” - Kalei Kailihiwa, Director of Community Programs
at Ka Pua Initiative, Kamehameha Schools

 A Promise to Children
In the past eight months, Hōkūleʻa and Hikianalia have sailed 2,500
nautical miles, visited 33 communities, and received more 60,000 volunteer
hours of support during their Mālama Hawaiʻi journey. The most significant
statistic, however, is the 20,000 school children that have connected with
the canoes.

 Flashback 'ŌiwiTV: Anti-Canvas (2011) At
the annual Anti Canvas event, local artists use a non-traditional medium of
Hurley boardshorts that are auctioned off with all proceeds going to
charity. Hurley and Contrast Magazine picked 30 artists to create
individual, one of a kind surf shorts. Here is a piece on the 2011 Anti
Canvas featuring artist Paul Kema. This yearʻs Anti Canvas will take place
at Honolulu Night Market, 683 Auahi Street, Honolulu December 21st and 100%
of proceeds will go to Hawaii Foodbank and Waves4Water charities.
