Job Description: The PEERS Coalition (People Empowering Each other to Realize Success) is a Student Health Services peer-led program working to mobilize the student voice around mental health. We provide support and training to fellow students, as well as staff and faculty, with the goal of enhancing mental wellness around campus. PEERS Interns will join the movement on the SRJC campus to reduce stigma and increase awareness of the spectrum of mental health. PEERS Interns will organize and implement Monthly Coalition Workshops and other outreach events on campus, represent Student Health Services and SRJC with the county-level Mental Health Board, and gain valuable training in leadership and facilitation skills.
Job Requirements: * Preferred minimum overall GPA of 3.0 * Completion of a minimum of 24 units at SRJC by the end of Spring 2015 * Students who have a demonstrated interest in: o Health promotion and education o Peer support of Mental health and wellness o Public Speaking o Social Media * Demonstrated interest and availability to take on the commitment of the internship for the duration of the school year (two semesters) * Must be enrolled at SRJC for internship duration with at least 6 units * Able to work 10 - 15 hours per week * Available for some evening and weekend hours * Bilingual/bicultural applicants encouraged to apply
